My Favourite Movies

I'm lying here in bed feeling like death, I've caught the flu, or the Flying Death as my friend Scott likes to call it, and it is unrelenting, and I've decided to plug in a movie I haven't seen in years: Labyrinth. This got me thinking what my favourite movies are. So here it is a list of my top 10, at the moment, and they are subject to change at any time, favourite movies, in no particular order until the top Five, with links to Wiki articles about them:

10) Gunless
9) Donnie Darko
8) Black Swan
7) Labyrinth
6) The Lord of the Rings Trilogy (Yeah I know that's cheating but I don't care)
5) Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back
4) Tron: Legacy
3) Inception
2) Tron
1) Serenity

As I said this list is subject to change at any time, except the top 5 that is, those are pretty solidified as my favourite movies, but at the moment this is how I feel.

And with that:

Drowning Guinea Pigs

Alrighty ladies and gentlemen, a new week, a new blog, me being pretty tired and wanting to get this out on the interwebs. I have a fair bit to talk about so lets get going!

This weekend was great, little sleep but a great time and awesome new friends were made. Of course I'm talking about the great experience I had this last weekend in Banff at the Progressive Conservative Youth of Alberta Summit. It was a really great time had by everyone that was there, guaranteed, we got together and talked about so much stuff, ways to get more Youth involvement in the PC party and how we will have to go about the coming election in 2012. That evening we had a fantastic chance to have dinner with Premier Alison Redford and got a chance to talk to her about what we had all discussed that day and got to hear what she thought about it. Then we all, in only a way that the PC's can, partied in our Hospitality Suite, BIG shout out to Matthew McGowan who put a ton of hard work into his awesome Suite and then proceeded to get elected as the new VP Membership at the Annual General Meeting on Sunday. Then after the hotel told us to shut it down for the night we took the party to Hoodo and kept it going till way too late.

The next morning we all got up very early, at a classy time of 11am, and ate some breakfast and then it was time for the PCYA AGM in which a new Executive was elected with my good friend Evan Legate as the President, congrats once again! Then it was a long ride home for my brother and me as others went out to experience Banff.

All in all it was a great weekend, especially because afterwards my mom and I got to go and watch WWE Survivor Series' 25th anniversary in which CM Punk won his 2nd WWE Championship and "Finally The Rock has come back to New York City" to pair with John Cena to fight The Miz and R-Truth. If you want to read more click right HERE to read up on it on The John Report.

Today was a very relaxing day and nothing really interesting or blog worthy happened so, here we are at the end of my blog post today. Sorry for kind of throwing up links all over the place today for what its worth.

But before I go I'm going to drop this little tidbit for anyone who is interested, starting December 1st my good friend Justin Cauti and I are starting a new project that I'm not going to tell to much about right now, but stay tuned, its going to be awesome! SO:

And tonight I'm not gonna post much for music, just one song but the second thing I'm posting is a story from my favourite author, Patrick Rothfuss (click HERE to read his blog, he's a very funny man and incredibly talented), that he presented at w00tstock 3.0. If you haven't read his books, The Kingkiller Chronicles, I'd strongly advise you to do so, they are the greatest pieces of fantasy I've read in my life.

Once Upon A Time

Figured I should post this sooner rather then later because, knowing me, I will probably forget again. Two pretty quick things to run down here tonight/this morning: 1) I forgot to mention the current book I'm working on, although if you know me at all its pretty obvious and 2) The awesome TV Series on CTV called Once Upon a Time, thus the name of my blog post.

So the book I'm currently reading is the final book in the Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini. This book has been 4 years in the making in a series that was supposed to end with book 3, but so far its been worth every year I've waited for it, its fantastic! Here is the inside flap summery:

"Not so very long ago, Eragon—Shadeslayer, Dragon Rider—was nothing more than a poor farm boy, and his dragon, Saphira, only a blue stone in the forest. Now the fate of an entire civilization rests on their shoulders.

"Long months of training and battle have brought victories and hope, but they have also brought heartbreaking loss. And still, the real battle lies ahead: they must confront Galbatorix. When they do, they will have to be strong enough to defeat him. And if they cannot, no one can. There will be no second chances.

"The Rider and his dragon have come further than anyone dared to hope. But can they topple the evil king and restore justice to Alagaësia? And if so, at what cost?"

Can't wait to finish it up and see how it ends, hopefully a very satisfying ending, that would be the best. If you haven't read any of these books the first in the series is called Eragon, yes there was a TERRIBLE movie based off of it made a while back but don't let that prevent you from reading it. This is the series that not only got me into reading and more specifically got me reading Fantasy novels but also the novel that inspired me to start writing myself. So, basically, I can't recommend it enough! Read it, let your kids read it, do whatever you have to do to get it out there, I love this book series with all my heart, dwarven politics included.

Follow Christopher Paolini on twitter @InheritaceCP #CheepCheep

And finally the name of my blog post tonight, Once Upon a Time. Its a great new series from CTV, channel 2 if you have shaw cable and live in Northern Alberta, that should satisfy every fantasy enthusiasts desires for a fantasy television series. Basically there is a town filled with people who don't realize that they are characters that every child knows from fairy tales, Cinderella, Snow White, Rumpelstiltskin, etc. The Wicked Witch cast a spell on the entire faery tale world that would put them into a world that is a terrible curse for them, being our world, and none of them would remember it. One little boy somehow figures this out via an old book filled with these faery tales and is trying to convince his biological mother, who he searched out, that all of this is true and she is Snow White's daughter and the only one who can save this town from the Wicked Witch, his foster parent who also happens to be mayor of this small town.

Its only about 4 or 5 episodes into the first season and is definitely worth your time to check out.

Real Steel Movie Review

Who's up for a movie review? Harold and Kumar? Nope, decided not to review it. Why? Cause I'm a jerk. Real Steel? Yup! So here we go!!!

Real Steel comes off initially as being your stereotypical sports/boxing movie. And for the most part it really is. But there are many parts in it that are very unique to this specific movie, and even though it is a stereotypical sports movie it does everything very well and in a pretty original way. Yes, as you'd expect, a Robot boxer is going at it and you don't think he can win it all but then it gets the big shot at getting the World Robot Boxing title, will he win? Did you watch Rocky? You pretty much know that story then.

Within this story you also have a story about a man named Charlie, and ex-boxer, who just can't get a break with any of his Robots that he uses in this boxing. He happens to have an eleven year old son, who he has never known, he finds out his ex-girlfriend has died and he is going to be stuck with the kid, unless he signs the child over to his ex's gold digging sister and her 60+ year old rich as you can imagine husband. He does it, and makes 50 K out of the deal but asks to spend the summer with his son. He doesn't want his son but his son wants nothing more by the end to be with his dad. What happens with that? Well its pretty obvious if you have seen any movies like that.

My problem with the movie stands here: The CGI was great, so no that's not an issue, the acting was awesome, I can't wait to see the kid in more movies, so that is not it either. What's my problem? Well calm down and I'll get to it, geez! My problem is, it doesn't end, after the last fight the kid is supposed to go back with his mom's sister and after the fight is done and there is a ton of cheering Hugh Jackman lifts the kid up on his shoulders and they throw their arms up in the air and the credits roll. Well whats gonna happen with those two? Normally I don't mind when movies leave stuff to the imagination but that wasn't one of those times. I happen to enjoy them telling me everything that happens when it comes to a father/son relationship. It was not set up for a sequel, thankfully, but it just didn't come to a satisfying ending in that regard.

So given all of that...8.5/10. Loved the movie, gonna grab it on DVD, hopefully I'll have a BluRay player by then so maybe get it on BluRay, but it was SUPER predictable in both main points of story line and the ending wasn't very satisfying. There you go, movie review!

What have I been up to lately? Why thank you for asking kind but nameless individual. Nothing in particular sadly, been super busy with work but I have this and next weekend off, I plan on catching up on reading and get some writing done. I have been writing a novel now for quite some time but I haven't been doing much of anything with it since last year, so I have once again begun to write and my story is going through some MAJOR changes, namely in size and rhythm and the plot will be modified ever so slightly so that it works better then it currently does.

I will be posting it on a website called Wattpad but not until the New Year, hopefully I'll have made progress by then, and possibly bits and pieces on my blog.

Random shout out to Briana Cable cause she has been pestering me all night to mention her. She's awesome, just a little odd at times.

The Night Circus

It's been a while hasn't it? Nothing overly thrilling has been happening in the last little while so I didn't really feel the need to type up anything. I've seen a few movies, nothing spectacular, and life has been relatively average. There haven't been any books that have overly caught my attention as of late sadly and I've been going back and forth between books I've read before now, I had, for a brief while, settled upon rereading The Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfuss but then I managed to get a little extra cash this week and finally bought a copy of Erin Morgenstern's debut novel The Night Circus.

This book came out a few months back and it has taken me quite some time to finally pick up a copy but, with today being the first day I've started reading it, I am VERY glad that I did. Everyone that has read it at work has been raving about it and so I am now going to start raving even though I am only about 50 pages in. I'll save a proper review for when I am done it but here is the synopsis from the inside flap of the novel:

"The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it, no paper notices plastered on lampposts and billboards. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not.

"Within these nocturnal black-and-white-striped tents awaits an utterly unique experience, a feast for the senses, where one can get lost in a maze of clouds, meander through a lush garden made of ice, stare in wonderment as the tattooed contortionist folds herself into a small glass box, and become deliciously tipsy from the scents of caramel and cinnamon that waft through the air.

"Welcome to Le Cirque des Reves

"Beyond the smoke and mirrors, however, a fierce competition is under way - a contest between two young illusionists, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood to compete in a 'game' to which they have been irrevocably bound by their mercurial masters. Unbeknownst to the players, this is a game in which only one can be left standing, and the circus is but the stage for a remarkable battle of imagination and will.

"As the circus travels around the world, the feats of magic gain fantastical new heights with every stop. The game is well under way and the lives of all those involved -- the eccentric circus owner, the elusive contortionist, the mystical fortune-teller, and a pair of red-headed twins born backstage among them -- are swpt up in a wake of spells and charms.

"But when Celia discovers that Marco is her adversary they begin to think of the game not as a competition but as a wonderful collaboration. With no knowledge of how the game must end, they innocently tumble headfirst into love. A deep, passionate, and magical love that makes the lights flicker and the room grow warm whenever they so much as brush hands.

"Their masters still pull the strings, however, and this unforeseen occurrence forces them to intervene -- with dangerous consequences, leaving the lives of everyone from the performers to the patrons hanging in the balance.

"Both playful and seductive, The Night Circus, Erin Morgenstern's Spell-casting debut, is a mesmerizing love story for all ages."

Little long winded but a fantastic description of a book that I cannont wait to dive even deeper into.

As I said earlier no movies that I have gone to have been super memorable so I will leave it at that and definitely give a review of which ever movie I happen to see next.

Night Of Champions Run Down

So tonight is WWE Night of Champions, a night when every title in the WWE is up for grabs:

Tag Team Championship: Evan Bourne and Kofi Kingston (Air Boom) vs R-Truth and The Miz (Awesome Truth). The match was pretty good with a lot of covers and great team work by both Air Boom and Awesome Truth but in the end The Miz's anger got the best of him and he knocked down a ref causing disqualification. Air Boom remains Tag Team Champions.

Intercontinental Championship: Cody Rhodes vs Ted DiBiase. I'm in no way, shape, or form a fan of Cody Rhodes but he put on one hell of a show for this fight against his former friend and ally Ted DiBiase. Ted DiBiase managed to take of Rhodes "protective" facial mask but got distracted while celebrating and Rhodes went for the pin, got his 3 count and managed to keep his championship.

Between matches Christian came and started begging for, surprise surprise, one more match against the winner of the Randy Orton/Mark Henry World Heavyweight Championship. He started bashing Buffalo's NFL team and tried to get the audience to cheer with him so he can get one more match. Sheamus then came out and promised to help Christian get one more match ONLY if, when Christian wins, he make his first title defence against Sheamus, when the crowed was chanting and Christian agreed, Sheamus Brouge Kicked Christian and left the ring.

Fatal Four Way for the United States Championship: John Morrison vs Jack Swagger vs Alex Riley vs Dolph Ziggler. To open A-Ry corners Swagger and Morrison corners Ziggler, Ziggler and Morrison both fall out of the ring leaving A-Ry and Swagger to fight. Morrison goes in for two near falls and on the last Ziggler gets Swagger out. Riley pins Swagger for a two count and Vikie Guerrero puts Swagger leg on the ropes preventing Swagger from getting a count out. Morrison starts after both Swagger and A-Ry showing that right now friendships don't matter and he puts Alex down for a near fall. A close win came to Alex when he got out of an ankle lock but Swagger kicks out. Swagger gets Morrison down and is about to go in for a cover when Ziggler pushes him aside and pins Morrison, retaining his United States Championship Title.

Right now, I'm writing this as I watch, I'm thinking that, as great as the matches are, nothing has changed, it's kinda lame. But oh well. Cut to Mark Henry being interviewed and being asked if it is true that he in fact cannot win against Orton because he doesn't want to. Mark Henry rips the mic away and tells all watching he will destroy Orton tonight. Vikie Guerrero then takes the screen saying that if Triple H has to step down as C.O.O. Vikie will gladly take his place.

World Heavyweight Championship: Randy Orton vs Mark Henry. My friend Kevin just texted me saying "I thought this was the main event?" I replied that I didn't think it would be because it is obvious the outcome is going to be Henry, no one has stopped him yet, why should Orton? Let's see. Right as the bell sounds Mark Henry picks Orton up like nothing and tosses him into the turn buckles but Orton manages to use his quickness to just start beating the Worlds Strongest Man and get him down on the ground, the only way Orton will be able to defeat him. I don't think Randy has a hope of winning but as along as he pulls off and RKO on Henry I'll be happy. 1 RKO failed. Randy manages to get out of a World Strongest slam and quickly puts Mark Henry in a sleeper hold, Henry blasts orton off of his back. Henry starts bending Orton backwards across the one of the polls of the ring, causing, I'd assume, insane pain, immediatly after he puts all 400+ lbs of him right on Orton's back, somehow Orton manages to kick out. After being punished for about 10 minutes Orton gets up and starts beating Henry and dodging a splash from the WSM. After receiving a World Strongest Slam, Orton kicks out and Orton is visibly pissed. Orton DDT's Mark Henry and does his little Viper thing, and goes int his "Place" delivering a DDT off the ropes and pins Henry for a near fall when he grabs the bottom rope and Orton is forced to get off of him. 2 RKO's failed. Mark Henry gets Orton as he is falling from the failed RKO, slams him and pins Randy Orton and after 15 years Mark Henry wins his first title. Orton put up an amazing fight but the inevitable happened.

Now Mark has this thing he likes to call The Hall of Pain that he has been putting all of his opponents in, broke Big Show and Kane's leg with a chair, what will he do to Randy Orton? Henry takes a mic and announces that he is going to put anyone and every one into the Hall of Pain, he will never run from a fight and he is "Never, ever going to lose this title!" Surprisingly enough he leaves without doing anything uncalled for to Randy Orton. Mark Henry is The World's Strongest Champion.

Diva's Championship: Kelly Kelly vs Beth Phoenix. This fight is also known as I don't care, so time for me to grab some supper. A nice superplex was delivered, that's about it...Kelly Kelly wins

WWE Championship Title: Alberto Del Rio vs John Cena. Now, I, until recently, wasn't a huge Cena fan but now that they have given him some great people to fight he has really started to spread his wings and be a blast to watch so I am very excited for this match. Cena made a great entrance in Del Rio's car, very fancy. I can't stand Del Rio's cockyness, he just comes off as WAY too smug, I mean he even has his own ring announcer...why? And then Cena takes a mic and says pretty much what I'm thinking. John Cena The Fighting Fruity Pebble.

They don't waste anytime when the bell goes, they get right into the fight, Cena knocking Del Rio back and forth and Del Rio trying to get away form him as fast as he can. The ref kicks Del Rio's ring announcer out, so that was nice. Once he get's Cena down he isn't letting him back up, continuously kicking Cena in the kidney, throwing him against everything. Cena manages to finally fight back and takes the upper hand in this fight. Cena and Del Rio hardly manage to get up off their backs to prevent a count out when they knock each other down again. Once back up Del Rio assaults Cena with fast kicks, almost pulling off a count out. Cena suplexed Rio and Cena gains momentum just in time to deliver a perfect 5 Knuckle Shuffle. Cena jumps up out of the way just as Alberto Del Rio is going in for a spear and crashes his shoulder into the pole of the ring, a nasty crunch was heard, mmmm. Del Rio delivers a cross arm breaker and Cena turns it into a near fall pin, picks the champion up and smashes him down into the ring, picks him up again and puts him down with an AA, takes out the ring announcer, who has come back and puts Del Rio into an STF submission causing Del Rio to tap out and Cena to become the Undisputed WWE Champion for the 10th time.

For those of you who don't follow WWE, and for some strange reason are still reading, my favourite Superstar, CM Punk, has been up against some major punishment from Kevin Nash who Power Bombed him at Summerslam causing him to lose his Undisputed WWE Championship to Mr Money in the Bank Alberto DelRio. Nash was rehired by WWE and was about to go into a match at NoC vs Punk but last minute Triple H, the C.O.O. of WWE cancelled the and put himself up against CM Punk. Punk had been mouthing off to The Game since he became C.O.O. and HHH has finally had enough. Tonight Punk vs The King of Kings, if the C.O.O. loses he has to step down, if punk looses, as far as I know nothing happens. Here's a video rundown for the match. As much as I'm looking forward to this fight it doesn't seem right to me that they are setting it up for the main event, especially because it isn't a championship match. But here it is!

Let's call this one a Grudge Match: Triple H, The King of Kings, The Game, The C.O.O. of WWE, whatever you want to call him vs CM Punk in a no disqualifications match. CM Punk comes out sporting his new CM Punk Ice Cream Bar T-shirt, ordering mine soon. Before The Game finishes his entrance Punk punches him in the back of the head, getting this match started. Bodies and fists are flying all over the place as Triple H tosses Punk behind the announcers table and starts beating him, punk manages to get back into the ring. In the ring Game and Punk are going back and forth, throwing punches and bodies and spearing and its a thing of beauty. Triple H clearly hasn't lost his touch as one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, this is his first fight since Wrestlemania vs The Undertaker. All I can think right now is how amazing it would be if Undertaker came back at some point during this fight. The Game gets Punk into the crowd and just takes him to town, Punk manages to get up and starts beating HHH and gets him back to the entrance to the ring. Triple H throws Punk into the JumboTron. Punk throws The Game behind the screen and starts flinging random objects at him and starts dragging him back to the ring. Punk grabs a chair out from under the ring, slams it onto the Game's head and pulls off a near fall. This fight is going to last quite some time so when I find it up on youtube I'll post it up on my blog.

The Miz and R-Truth come running in and each take one of the wrestlers ad just start beating them. Once the two have Game and Punk down they drag Punks arm across Triple H's body and force the ref to count, the ref gets to 2 and The Game kicks out. Miz starts yelling at the ref and the ref punches Miz across the ring, R-Truth and the Miz both start beating the ref. Meanwhile Punk is trying to get back to his feet. John Laryngitis comes out and calls Miz and Truth out of the ring, HHH manages to pin Punk but the only ref there is out cold, a ref runs out but Johnny boy distracts him. Punk GTS's The Game ad the secondary ref calls a near fall as HHH kicks out. Punk goes after Truth and the Miz and Truth run off. The Game pedigree's Punk and gets a near fall. (So much for posting a video) Out of the audience comes Kevin Nash who starts beating on both Triple H and Punk. Big Sexy gets assulted by Punk but he pick Punk up like nothing and delivers a Power Bomb then goes back after The Game. Triple H grabs a sledge hammer and knocks Kevin Nash out and crawls back into the ring. HHH Pedigree's Punk and pulls off a 3 count. I was NOT expecting that at all! I was expecting, because of the stipulation Punk made, that Game was gonna lose, thank god he didn't! Great show! Can't wait until tomorrow to watch the fall out on RAW.

Concert Tickets, The Lion King 3D and a link for my Night of Champions Run Down

Alrighty, haven't posted in a week or so, been a boring week, but here we are for today's post. Hope everyone has had a good week, as boring as mine was it was very good. Saturday night, the 10th, I had just finished listening to the new Red Hot Chili Peppers CD for the first time and I turned on my radio and immediately the DJ announced that caller 10 would win tickets to Keith Urban, I called and ended up being caller 3 and 10, so this Wednesday I will be at Rexal Place for my 4th Keith Urban concert in a row. It's going to be a very good.

Yesterday afternoon I went to The Lion King 3D with my mom, and loved every minute of it. Most of my friends know that I am not a huge believer in 3D as the future of movies and I don't really believe it belongs in many movies at all. The Lion King was beautiful in 3D, I had my doubts as this movie was completely hand animated and I was very concerned how they would transfer it to digital 3D, it looked amazing and I was as happy as could be for the entire movie. Everyone should know what its about so not bothering to run that down, straight to the rating, 9.5/10, the only reason I don't give it a full 10 is because I still don't enjoy 3D that much.

I started off putting WWE Night of Champions in this blog but it got to long so it is HERE.

So now this blog is REALLY short but hey who cares, here's some music:

Drive Movie Reivew

Well today I was supposed to write a movie review for Apollo 18 but instead I went to a prescreening of the movie Drive with my older brother, and honestly I have no clue what to say about it.

Trailer

Drive is about a character, simply know as the Driver who will take any one on any job and away from the scene, in between that time he gives them 5 minutes to do whatever they want to, if they are back before the 5 minutes are up he will take them away, if not, sucks to be them. Driver meets a woman whos husband is coming home from jail and he ends up helping the man out as Standard, her husband, is in debt $10,000 to some people who guaranteed him protection while he was there. Driver takes him on this job and, long story short, it doesn't go as planned. He ends up getting mixed up in East vs West mob battles and has to try and figure out how to survive in what he inadvertently got himself into.  Driver is rated R in the states and I'm going to say 18A in Canada but I'm not sure.

First off what I liked about the movie: the plot was really interesting and when action scenes occur they are preformed spectacularly and without flaw, there is a lot of violence, gory gory violence, and it might seem a little off at points but it was really well done. The acting was so great, I mean Ryan Gosling was in it of course it was going to be great, it's why I saw the movie. Something I didn't expect to like was the way the movie was going to be filmed. Looking at the trailer it seems like just your average nothing special about it action movie but the director, Nicholas Winding Refn, is known for being a very artsy director, he's done the Pusher trilogy and Bronson respectively, so in the end it was not at all what the trailer makes it out to be. Which I really liked. There was definitely more things I found interesting and great about this movie but those are the BIG things.

Now for the misses: the music, I love movie scores and I pay SUCH close attention to them. This movie hardly had a score, which I don't usually mind, in this case I did not, but when it did have music it was the cheesy 80's movie music that they thought would become the next best thing for movies, technoee and repetitive, it just didn't fit, neither did the credits, bright pink scrawl across the screen just didn't sit right with me for some reason. The movie felt long, which was unfortunate because it really wasn't, it is about one and a half hours long and by the time I got out of the theatre I thought it was much later then it was when in fact it was not the case at all. It didn't drag as much as other movies I've seen, and it definitely had its high octane moments, the chase scenes where freaking awesome, but for all of that you could feel how long it was. As I mentioned before the gory scenes definitely where odd at some points and, going back to the lack of music, at some points the quiet felt awkward, but at others it was almost beautiful.

In the end Drive was an enjoyable movie but not one every action movie fan will enjoy. There will definitely be those who love it and those who hate it and those like me who aren't 100% sure what their opinion on it was. Now for rating, as I said I'm not sure what I think about this movie, I've tried to collect my thoughts as best I could and I'm surprised I've gotten this far, I'm sitting somewhere between a 6.5 and a 7, I'm leaning more towards the 7 because of all the things this movie had going right for it. So yeah, let's say I give Drive staring Ryan Gosling a 7/10. It hits theatres September 16, 2011.

Something I need to point out, as it seems weird that I would give a movie I'm not sure about the same score as I gave The Debt, I just changed the rating of the Debt to an 8 as I've rethought it and have come to the conclusion that I do in fact find that movie a great one to go to so I just figured I should point that out. Run on sentence much...

As for what's been going on lately with me nothing fantastic has really happened since I last updated. I had a jazz band meeting yesterday that didn't turn out as only 7 of us showed up, so we went out to Whyte ave and McDonald's and had a great time. Hopefully people will get there acts together and we can get this thing going soon though.

What I'm reading: The Book of (Even More) Awesome by Neil Pasricha creator of the 1000awesomethings blog. It's the second book of everyday things that just make you smile and feel good, from stomping dry crunchy leaves on the sidewalk to rocking out on air instruments. Definitely check it out if you are having an off day or just really want to keep  your Awesome day going.

The Debt Movie Review and Some Other Stuff

So this Labour Day long weekend was pretty successful if its up to me to decide, and considering this is my blog I think I am aloud to say so. Nothing too intense went down but it was a very good, relaxing and enjoyable weekend. I discovered a couple bands, played some Magic The Gathering and went to The Debt and as I'm typing this watching WWE. So lets get to it!

So first off, movie review: Trailer

"The espionage thriller begins in 1997, as shocking news reaches retired Mossad secret agents Rachel (Helen Mirren) and Stefan (Tom Wilkinson) about their former colleague David (Ciarán Hinds). All three have been venerated for decades by their country because of the mission that they undertook back in 1966, when the trio (portrayed, respectively, by Jessica Chastain, Marton Csokas, and Sam Worthington) tracked down Nazi war criminal Vogel (Jesper Christensen) in East Berlin. At great risk, and at considerable personal cost, the team's mission was accomplished - or was it? The suspense builds in and across two different time periods, with startling action and surprising revelations." (Link to IMDb)

All in all it was a very good movie, the scenes where they cut back and forth between 1965 and 1997 where very well placed. The movie starts off with Helen Mirren's character Rachel at a book release of a book written by her daughter about the story that is about to be laid out for the audience. The first cut scene shows the story of how the operation went down as far as the world knows, Rachel reads this part from her daughters book. After this it comes back to '97 and shows what the other two characters are doing now, 30 years later. Then it goes back and shows us what happened to get the three operatives where they are in 1997.

The movie goes about very well, twists in the plot pop up everywhere and there are a lot of very intense moments and its share of very disturbing moments. The ending wasn't as satisfying as I would have liked, but when it comes down to it it really couldn't have ended any other way. I definitely liked the movie and will see it again and probably buy it, so I highly recommend seeing it. I give it a solid 8/10.

On Thursday night I should have another review up for Apollo 18.

So on Saturday it was my older brother Matthew's 26th birthday, we didn't do a ton but we had some food and played some games. It was originally supposed to be a surprise party and that day he texted me asking if I wanted to go to The Debt with him and I told him I MIGHT have plans that day only to find out later that he had to stay home from work because of his back...that was weird. After words I got picked up by my friend Mason and we headed to his place or a Magic night, that was a good time, for the brief period I was awake. I woke up after a fair amount of games to find out that Chung-Yi had destroyed him for the past 2 hours, they played the same game over and over again. Mason would play a few land and Chung would destroy it, over, and over, and over, and over. Mason was not pleased to say the least.

Sunday was me sleeping a lot, so nothing to talk about there. As for today it was just The Debt and spending some time with my brother, sister-in-law and my nephew.

I think that about sums up all my thoughts for the weekend. Hope you all had a marvellous Labour Day long weekend. And now some music!

Today we have: Good Charlotte  Manchester Orchestra (each word is a song, couldn't decide which song to choose) Placebo AND David Choi **Note: David Choi is a self released Singer/songwriter and he deserves all the support he can get, hes a great musician so definitely give him a chance**

Getting to Know Me

I started this blog about a year ago but this is the first post I will be putting up, I'm good at keeping up with tasks at hand. Basically this blog will be for postings of my every day doings(ones that are interesting that is, which are few and far between), my reviews on movies, books, and WWE(as I'm cool and love wrestling). For now that's all I can think of that I'll be posting about, now on to learning about me.

My name is Nathan and I live in Alberta, Canada. I just graduated from High School this last school year, class of 2011, and am currently employed at Chapters. I love reading, mostly fantasy and sci-fi, I love movies of all kinds and see them frequently, and I love Pro-Wrestling, yes I'm VERY aware that it's fake, don't worry about it. I am currently working towards getting myself a license and a vehicle as well as working on going to post-secondary next September or January in the field of Radio.

Music is one of the most important things in my life, its the greatest way I know to be able to express myself and I know this is true for a lot of my friends and family. I play Clarinet and Baritone Saxophone and am currently in a Jazz band consisting of a bunch of my friends that is just getting off the ground in these next few months. I listen to all kinds of music; from classic to classic rock, from grunge to country, I stay away from most rap music but every once and a while there is one that I can't help but fall in love with, Gym Class Heroes' Stereo Hearts being the latest to do so. Here's a link for you: link!

Other then that there isn't much to know about me, anything else will be revealed as this blog goes on.

So until my next post here's some awesome music links for you!
